JD School of Design hosted the Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition

JD School of Design hosted the Bengaluru City University’s Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition on 4th December 2024, at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. The whole day was full of excitement, team spirit, and excellent displays of aquatic skill.

Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre Known for its great facilities, provided a nice atmosphere for competition, ensuring an unforgettable experience for participants as well as the audience.

A Spirited Day of Competition

The Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition brought students from some of the most prestigious colleges in Bengaluru. There were participants from BMS Institute of Technology and Management, Jyothi Nivas College, St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, MES College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Vijaya College, and Sindhi College, among others. There were variations of distances covered and different swimming styles were involved, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

The pool came alive with cheers, splashes, and the spirit of sportsmanship from the first whistle to the final race. Every swimmer reflected willpower and discipline to go on to challenge personal bests and win medals for their colleges.

Highlights of the Event

Among the most sensational events of the day was the freestyle relay. The teams competed against each other with their strokes full of electrifying energy, and supporters from colleges urged their swimmers to swim faster.

The very best was the final breaststroke in which swimmers of exceptional accuracy and force were shown, inspiring in their concentration and dedication that gathered tremendous applause from the audience.

Although the event focused the entire day on the races, the atmosphere generated at the event created space for connection and mutual respect among the attending students and faculty members of the participating colleges. The competition turned into a battleground for athletic prowess and a space for building friendships and networks in academic and sporting communities within Bengaluru. The event succeeded because of meticulous planning and precise implementation by the JD School of Design and Bengaluru City University. From races to refreshments, each detail was seen to, such that the event took off with the least hitch.

The medal awarding ceremony was a great culmination of the event. Trophies and medals were given to the individual winners as well as the champion college. All these trophies and medals would indicate not only the swimming talents but also the arduous training and efforts spent in preparing for the event.

The Inter-Collegiate Swimming Competition by JD School of Design brought out the incredible potential of the young athletes of Bengaluru. Such events encourage the students to pursue sports besides academics, which helps in keeping a balance between personal and professional growth. They remind us of how important sports are for building character, resilience, and community spirit.

The waves from Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre had only just subsided into the day, with the sun having just dipped over it, but for now, we bask in the light of all this and many more occasions yet to be, all as one with passion, perseverance, and unity, to support our boundless student community.
