IASTEM hosts an International Panel Discussion on Emotional Intelligence

On August 21, 2024, the International Academy of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Management (IASTEM) hosted an International Panel discussion titled “Navigating the Dynamic Business Landscape: Integrating Emotional Intelligence, Leadership, and Technology.” The event, which drew over 50 global attendees, addressed how Emotional Intelligence (EI) is essential for effective leadership in today’s fast-changing world.

IASTEM is one of a largest non-profit organization committed to advancing international education and fostering collaboration among universities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Management. The organization facilitates global discussions through scientific seminars, conferences, and lectures, bringing together institutions from around the world.

The discussion featured three distinguished experts.

Dr. Mythili Kolluru is Assistant Professor at the College of Banking and Financial Studies, Muscat, Oman. Dr. Kolluru is an award-winning academic and a Certified Strategic Planning Professional, known for her contributions as a distinguished author and Global Research Advisor for IASTEM.

Dr. Kirti Rajhans is a Senior Associate Professor and Head of the Centre of Excellence for Academic Practices at NICMAR University, Pune, India. With 24 years of experience, Dr. Rajhans specializes in Project Communication Management, Organizational Behaviour, and Leadership.

D. Maria Nirmal Preethi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Management at Don Bosco College, Bengaluru, India. Her expertise includes Marketing, Human Resource Management, and Business Ethics.

During this panel discussion the following key points were discussed by the experts.

  • The role of EI in decision-making and crisis management.
  • Methods for leaders to develop and enhance their EI.
  • Leveraging EI to build team resilience during crises.
  • How technology, including AI, can support EI in teams.

The discussion was enriched by references to mythology, real-life experiences, and research data, which left a significant impact on the attendees.

During the Pannel discussion attendees also posed several insightful questions like

  • What is the importance of teaching EI at a young age?
  • What is the impact of EI on younger generations?
  • Whether EI is associated primarily with women?
  • What is the comparison between IQ and EQ?
  • What are the Methods for improving emotional quotient.

During the panel discussion some of the participants expressed their gratitude to IASTEM for organizing such a wonderful international Pannel discussion. Priya Jain also said “The discussion was exceptional; the panel was outstanding.” Likewise, Shyam Kolluru expressed “I learned a lot from the excellent discussion on EI.”. Roopal Arora and Dr. Vidya Suresh praised the panel discussion.

After the discussion all the three panellists Dr. Mythili Kolluru, D. Maria Nirmal Preethi and Dr. Kirti Rajhans expressed their gratitude and thanked Mrs. Ashreeta, Asst. Research Director and Convenor , IASTEM for the opportunity and hosting.
