Ms. Glamika Patel: A Transgender Woman who is taking Responsibility of her Mother.

Ms. Glamika Patel’s life is a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering determination. A transgender woman, social activist, life coach, motivational speaker, and counsellor, she dedicates herself to uplifting others, offering guidance and moral support free of cost. Her journey is not just one of personal transformation but also an inspiring story of devotion to family and social service.

Born as a male, Glamika always knew she was meant to be a woman. In 2023, she underwent medical intervention to align with her true identity, and since then, she has embraced womanhood with pride and happiness.  However, her journey has not been without challenges. From a young age, she faced neglect from her father, who failed to provide proper care to her and her sister. In 2015, when her father abandoned their mother, Ms. Janki Bai Patel, Glamika started to take responsibility for her mother. For Glamika, her mother is a role model—a woman who fought against all odds to raise her children with dignity.

Despite facing personal struggles, Glamika excelled academically. She completed her B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from OP Jindal Institute of Technology, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, in 2015. She obtained financial assistance through an education loan for her graduation, while the Jindal Group covered her entire tuition fees through a 100% waiver. To prepare for the GATE exam, she first completed a 45-day crash course and then continued her studies through self-preparation. Her determination led her to secure an All-India Rank (AIR) of 129 in GATE 2018 & post of Management Trainee (Technical) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna PSU. Today, she serves as a Deputy Manager at Bhilai Steel Plant, proving that perseverance and hard work pave the way for success.

Her thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there. She pursued an MBA in Supply Chain Management from NMIMS Global and is currently perusing MSc in Psychology from Jain University, Bangalore.  Her academic and professional achievements are remarkable, but what truly sets her apart is her deep sense of devotion and gratitude toward her mother. As a self-made woman and a self-proclaimed “daughter by choice,” Glamika has taken her mother to several revered pilgrimage sites, including Ayodhya, Braj Mandal (Vrindavan, Mathura, Gokul, Barsana, Govardhan), Bageshwar Dham (Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh), Khajuraho Temple, and the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh—all while ensuring her mother’s comfort in a wheelchair. Seeing her unwavering dedication, people fondly call her “Shravan Kumari”

Her devotion knows no bounds. Having already visited numerous temples across the Bhilai-Raipur region, she dreams of taking her mother to even more sacred sites, including Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kolhapur, Rajim, Dongargarh, Ratanpur, Ujjain, Nagpur, and Kashi. Glamika Patel’s story is more than just one of gender transformation—it is an inspiring journey of love, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to family and faith. She continues to break barriers, proving that one’s identity is not a limitation but a source of strength. Through her work as a social activist and mentor, she encourages others to embrace their true selves, making the world a more inclusive and compassionate place.
